JOHN CAREW became a cult hero at Aston Villa - but since retiring the massive striker is living the kind of life must of us dream of.
The hulking, 6ft 5in Norwegian striker was loved in the Holte End for his goals, brilliant celebrations, charity work and hospital visits.. and that incident at a strip club.
Carew, now 39, arrived at Villa Park in 2007 after winning league titles with Valencia and Lyon.
It took him a while to win fans over, as he failed to score in his first two months and then picked up an injury the game he broke his duck.

But by the start of the next season, Carew was banging in the goals - while his antics off the pitch also won fans over.
A Villa season ticket holder claimed he'd seen Big John at a strip club on Birmingham's infamous Broad Street - The Rocket Club - in the early hours of the same day Villa were supposed to be playing Ajax in a crucial Uefa Cup game.
Manager Martin O'Neill was obviously furious and later fined Carew a week's wages.
Carew, who had been ill at the time, believed he wouldn't be playing and said it was all a 'misunderstanding' and that he'd gone to a bar that 'shared a door' with the strip club and only drank a Pepsi.
Villa team-mate and local lad Gabby Agbonlahor quipped at the time: 'I don’t know what John was doing - there are miles better places than The Rocket Club.'
It might have spelled the end for some players but in fact it only served to strengthen his bond with Villa fans.
A song - 'John Carew, Carew. He likes a lap-dance or two. He might even pay for you' - became a staple for the club and both Carew and O'Neill would later say that the incident helped him become a cult hero.
Carew later said: 'It could be a positive thing.
'I'm John, I'm Johnny Boy, I’m like everybody else! I like to enjoy my life the same as everybody else.
'We’re all humans and sometimes you do things that we shouldn’t do. I’m sure I’m going to do mistakes in the future as well – I’m 100 per cent sure actually! That’s how life is. I’m just like the fans. I’m good at playing football, but I’m just like them.'
The striker handed his shirt to a small boy after he'd hit him with a corner flag during a passionate goal celebration, while arguably his greatest moment in claret and blue came when he lifted up a ball boy to celebrate a goal in a 5-1 thrashing of rivals Birmingham City.
He ended his his Villa career with 48 goals while helping the team to three consecutive top six finishes, their best spell in the 21st Century.
While his career can be considered a success, Carew himself has admitted that he didn't reach his full potential as he never fully dedicated himself to the sport.
But since retiring, it looks as if the Norwegian has been more motivated - and is making quite a success of things.
Like many Premier League stars before him, the imposing Carew has turned to acting.
And his career is going along very nicely so far.
Carew's first appearance came in Canadian small-budget horror film Dead of Winter, where he played a tourist stalked through snowy forest.
He was then the main antagonist in Høvdinger, an Oslo-set gangster film - although the 91-cap Norwegian ended up playing a Russian mobster.
Carew didn't have to get too method for his next show, playing a footballer in the drama Heimebane.
The Norwegian TV gave Carew joint-top billing and as very well received, winning three awards at the Gullruten Awards, including for Best TV Drama.
Heimebane also became an official selection at the Berlin Film Festival.
Carew's next move on screen is a little less clear.

At the end of last year, he was pictured alongside Vitali Klitschko in Kiev, where he was said to be filming an action movie titled Jonathan Fort.
However, no other info about the show exists and Carew has not updated fans on its status since posting a video of him training in November.
The Panorama Agency gives a bigger hint.
The agency, which also represents Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivjuand supermodel Helena Christensen, has Carew listed as starring in Disney blockbuster Maleficent 2, directing by fellow Norwegian Joachim Rønning.

Apart from the listing on his bio page, no other news of Carew being in the film has been announced, although a photo of him posing with Rønning offers a big hint.
The film is set to be released in 2020 and will have Angelina again in the lead role, with Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor among the cast.
